UNCONQUERABLE

Celebrate 16 years of Hobson Street Theatre Company with an evening of storytelling from our whānau! Told through the voices of our company, these stories honour the people, experiences and connections that have defined the past 16 years.

Unconquerable brings together interesting, funny and surprising stories from people’s lives shared through interviews and crafted into short scenes. Stories have been drawn from the wider street and Auckland City Mission community, and given a creative twist.

Individual theme songs, characters rebelling against the stories that have been written for them, and fights over the superior chocolate all make an appearance in the show.

Taking the stage are familiar faces and first-time performers from the company. Written by Acacia O’Connor and Roy Iro, based on stories from the collective.

This is our first production since Not King Lear at Q Theatre (Auckland Arts Festival) and Let Me Tell You About Auckland (Matariki Festival) in 2024.

Presented by Hobson Street Theatre Company with funding from the Creative Communities Scheme, and support from Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai, Basement Theatre and St Matthew-in-the-City.
